Itinerary

  • Day 1: Arrival in Moshi

    Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Moshi. Meet your guides for a pre-trek briefing and gear check. Rest and prepare for your thrilling adventure.

  • Day 2: Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,780 m)

    Hiking time: 3–4 hours Distance: 7 km (4.3 miles) Habitat: Rainforest
    Start your adventure at Londorossi Gate with a drive to the trailhead. Trek through dense rainforest, spotting wildlife along the way, to reach Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree) Camp.

  • Day 3: Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp (3,500 m)

    Hiking time: 5–6 hours Distance: 8 km (5 miles) Habitat: Moorland
    Leave the forest behind and enter the moorland zone. Cross ridges and enjoy panoramic views as you approach Shira 1 Camp.

  • Day 4: Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp (3,840 m)

    Hiking time: 4–5 hours Distance: 7 km (4.3 miles) Habitat: Moorland
    Continue across the Shira Plateau, a vast high-altitude desert with dramatic views of Kibo Peak. Arrive at Shira 2 Camp for an acclimatization night.

  • Day 5: Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp (3,900 m)

    Hiking time: 6–8 hours Distance: 10 km (6 miles) Habitat: Alpine Desert
    Ascend to Lava Tower (4,600 m) for acclimatization, then descend to Barranco Camp. Marvel at the Barranco Wall and Kilimanjaro’s impressive glaciers.

  • Day 6: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp (4,035 m)

    Hiking time: 4–5 hours Distance: 5 km (3 miles) Habitat: Alpine Desert
    Climb the iconic Barranco Wall, a thrilling section of the route. Traverse ridges and valleys to reach Karanga Camp for the night.

  • Day 7: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp (4,640 m)

    Hiking time: 4–5 hours Distance: 4 km (2.5 miles) Habitat: Alpine Desert
    Trek steadily uphill to Barafu Camp, your base camp for the summit push. Rest and prepare your gear for the midnight ascent.

  • Day 8: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) and down to Mweka Camp (3,080 m)

    Summit time: 6–8 hours Descent time: 5–7 hours Distance: 17 km (10.5 miles) Habitat: Arctic and Rainforest
    Begin your summit attempt at midnight. Ascend through challenging terrain to Stella Point and continue to Uhuru Peak, the roof of Africa. After celebrating, descend to Barafu Camp for a short rest before continuing to Mweka Camp.

  • Day 9: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate (1,650 m)

    Hiking time: 4–5 hours Distance: 10 km (6 miles) Habitat: Rainforest Descend through the lush rainforest to Mweka Gate, where you’ll collect your summit certificate. Transfer back to Moshi for a night of well-earned rest at your hotel.

  • Day 10: Rest and Departure

    Spend your final day at a hotel in Moshi. Reflect on your incredible trek, relax, or explore the town for souvenirs. Later, transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure, concluding your unforgettable adventure.
